FAQ

Frequently asked questions and practical troubleshooting notes.

Are the materials included in Chameleon+?

No. Chameleon+ is a software solution. You must procure materials separately from the market.

Which LOGO! unit is suitable for Chameleon+?

You can use any LOGO! unit. If the hotel has poor network quality, or if you want to use conventional wiring accessories rated at 12/24 V DC, use a 24R edition of LOGO!.

How much does Chameleon+ cost?

The Chameleon+ license is 100 euros per room (+VAT).

Which conventional sensors can I use?

Any conventional wiring accessory range with push buttons is compatible, such as VIMAR, LEGRAND, AVE, and similar brands.

Do I need a cardholder in every room?

No. Chameleon+ uses ceiling-mounted conventional presence detectors connected to a LOGO! input. A presence detection algorithm reliably sets each room state to vacant or occupied.

Which cable type can I use to wire conventional push buttons to LOGO! units?

Any data cable type such as LIYCY, OLFLEX, and similar types is suitable.

How many conventional presence detectors do I need for each hotel room?

One detector per room/space is required. Based on this, the BOM calculator typically assumes two detectors per hotel room (bedroom and bathroom). Add more detectors if you have extra spaces or incomplete coverage.

Can I use any conventional presence detector?

Yes. The specified Legrand type is only a suggestion. Ensure detector latency is below 20 seconds, or adjust the PDLa setting.

Why should I choose Chameleon+ for a hotel project?

Chameleon+ does not require prior hotel-automation experience. Programming steps are generated as guided instructions, and bidirectional KNX communication is generated automatically. It also allows LOGO! to be used as a cost-effective KNX controller.

Will I need to purchase software not described in the components list?

You will need an ETS license to program KNX devices and LOGO! Soft Comfort software to program LOGO! units.

Do I need to purchase components or software to design a hotel project?

No. LOGO! Soft Comfort V8.4 Demo lets you create LOGO! programs and validate your design in simulation mode. If you do not have an ETS license, ETS6 Lite eCampus is available for free (3 months, 20 devices). KNX does not provide simulation mode.

Is Chameleon+ relevant if I do not use KNX?

Yes. In a Modbus-only configuration, you can still use Chameleon+ to program LOGO! and generate a dynamic Modbus address space for visualization-platform integration.
